Skiing in Switzerland; Sepia Saturday;

Arosa, Switzerland, March 1955; I am the girl with the scarf. There was not yet one Microfiber in sight!

Bivio, Switzerland 1959, with a friend. Bivio was a newly developed piste, it was a smaller version like Parsenn Davos - Klosters which I loved to ski.

Please visit Sepia Saturday to enjoy stories and pictures of yesteryear.

  1. I like these pictures, they are like Holywood movies of long ago.

  3. I never had the opportunity to ski. You all look like you are having a great time. Fun I am sure. Now water skiing, that was my thing.

    Did you stay in touch with any of those pictured with you?

  5. What wonderful pictures. These were the days before skiing became a mass tourist undertaking. Very adventurous of you.

  8. Such fashionable apparel! And such old-fashioned looking ski equipment. . . (and my verification word is "premerin" -- just one off from equine estrogen).

  9. Looks like fun -- even without the fancy gear. Or perhaps because the gear wasn't so all important...

  11. Did you grow up learning to ski - because where you're standing in the first photo looks very, very, very high! It looks like a long way down.

    In the first photo, are any of the young women sisters? You all look so wholesome and full of fun. Great photos!

  14. I find those old ski outfits so much more attractive and flattering than the new ones. I had lace boots at one point too, but I don't miss those! Skiing was so different then...no microfibers and no snowboards.

  16. Great photos,Titania! Do you also ski in Australia. I know that there are some mountains with ski areas. But I am always in Queensland when I stay with my daughter, and that's always warm. Thanks for your visit! Have a great week!

  18. Thank you everybody for the visit and interesting comments.. I have grown up in a mountainous area and have learned to ski in an early age. I liked everything what had to do with winter sports, ice skating I enjoyed very much. I have not experienced cold and long winters for half of my life.
