Sepia Saturday 142; Three...

1953  with my little, much loved "adoptive" brother and his sister. When he was a young man he had a brush with death as he was badly electrocuted and was lucky to survive.  Later he died, still at an early age.

A few years later

1959, holidays in Austria; my mother holding baby Susie, daughter of my cousin. Susie was looking at my red painted fingernails and said "Zuckerl" meaning lollies.

and again a  few years later...

My mother with my first born daughter and  Amanda  sister to Susie;

Please hop over to Sepia Saturday 142

  1. I enjoyed the pictures, especially the one of Susie checking out your fingernails. What a cute story.

  2. I wouldn't like to mow the grass in the garden next to the house where Susie is admiring your fingernails! which reminds me of a fake German word for a lolly: ein Zuckerbonbon mit luxus Holzangriff.
    I'm sorry about your brother.

  3. These are wonderful photographs, Tatiana! Each one has its own story to tell. The one with the house and lollipop fingernails is my favorite of them all.

    Thanks for sharing your family with us!

  4. Three fine photographs which have just reminded me of where I could find my three children together for the first time in 10 years back in 2008. Kathy is quite right about pictures like these having a story to tell.

  5. Bob, thank you, yes, I think one should always take the opportunity to make photos of family and friends.Especially the grand children, as they grow and change so quickly.

  12. Three charming photos, and so sad about your adoptive little brother. That's a lovely story about the fingernails.I also have to apologise for accidentally erasing your lovely comment on my post. It's not the first time I've done this :( On the iPad, with fat fingers, it's so easy to press 'delete' instead of 'Publish' - why do they put them so close together?
