I always find it remarkable that the plants that we have in our northern hemisphere rooms are growing so abundantly in your Australian gardens. Is the trunk shown in your first picture also part of the plant shown?
Peter, the trunk is a Cuban Royal Palm; These Palms are very tall and have the most exquisite flower sprays, alas fairly high up! The philodendrons hold on with their aerial roots to climb up. Generally I do not keep plants in the house,sometimes, perhaps the odd flowering Orchid or cut flowers.
